I am a licensed psychologist, currently practicing in Walnut Creek. I earned a Master’s degree from Pepperdine University in 2004 and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from George Washington University in 2009. I have extensive post-graduate training, finishing a year long internship and two year post-doctoral fellowship at Brown University in 2011.
As a member of Mt. Diablo Psychological Services, I offer individual and family therapy, phone coaching, and co-facilitate DBT groups. I work collaboratively with my clients and their families to improve their quality of life and thrive. I help people gain a sense of control by teaching them mindfulness, effective ways to communicate, regulate their emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships to bring about needed change.
My primary areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, personality disorders and social skills deficits. I have also been trained in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and 2020 Mom and provide support to women during the transition into parenthood. I help women cope with mental health complications such as anxiety and depression during and after pregnancy. Additionally, I have extensive experience helping parents navigate challenges during adolescence and young adulthood and therefore offer parent training and consultation. I am a culturally sensitive therapist and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
I am a behaviorally oriented therapist, and I focus on teaching my clients effective coping skills, integrating my extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My experience as a Family Connections Leader has given me the unique skills to help support those who have a loved one with emotional dysregulation difficulties or who have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
