Susan Williams, LMFT
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in adults, adolescents, and couples therapy, and I have a private practice in Walnut Creek and Danville. I offer the full DBT program: individual therapy, telephone coaching, and skills training groups for adults and for families with adolescents. My goal is to help clients learn practical skills for feeling better, transforming their relationships and creating a life worth living.
My education includes an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University East Bay (CSUEB), and also an MA from Harvard University. My specialized training is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), DBT for Substance Use Disorders, Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Couples Counseling, and Counseling Adolescents. I treat a range of problems from anxiety and depression to relationship problems, grief and loss, and symptoms of borderline personality disorder.
My experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist is varied. I’ve trained graduate students at CSUEB in counseling skills and taught DBT skills to adult psychiatric outpatients in a partial hospitalization program. I’ve worked as a grief counselor, hotline counselor, high school and middle school counselor, and provided therapy for adult clients with a range of issues at community-based clinics.
