Mt. Diablo Psychological Services provides Dialectical Behavior Therapy in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, California
The DBT model involves concurrent participation in both DBT-based individual therapy and a DBT skills training group. Through active participation in the four modules, participants learn more effective ways of coping with life’s stressors and being in relationships. The four modules focus on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Each module lasts four to six weeks. It takes about 22 weeks to get through all four modules.

DBT has been empirically proven to help individuals who have difficulty regulating their emotions and who have symptoms such as fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, impulsivity, poor self-esteem, emotional reactivity, chronic suicidality and self-harm. It has also proven effective in treating other psychological problems such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma and chemical dependency.
